Upcoming Event: Loose Ends Workgroup

Do you have countless pattern concepts that you created during the Summer of Creativity or on your own? Let’s come together as a community to get these rough concepts polished, into your portfolio and in front of clients and buyers. On Monday, September 10th we’re starting the Loose Ends Workgroup in the Textile Design Lab. Here’s how it works:

Step One: September 10th-You’ll receive a video tutorial from the Textile Design Lab team walking you through a series of exercises. Through these exercises you’ll get clear on what needs to be done to achieve your short term goals and turn that stack of pattern concepts into presentation ready work.

Step Two: September 12th- We’ll come together during a live chat session to discuss our goals, share our plans and seek advice from the community. The live chat will be recorded for those who are unable to attend. You are also invited to post questions and your plan to our private forums for feedback and discussion.

Step Three: September 12th- With your new plan in place it’s time to choose your adventure and get to work! A list of recommended Textile Design Lab tutorials and courses (including two new additions to our library!) will be sent out to those who need help getting started.

This event is free for Textile Design Lab members and will be sent out to the entire community. You do not need to register for this event.

September Design Challenge: Aloha!

We hope you aren’t too burnt out on the travel themes from the Summer of Creativity, but we just loved this Hawaiian theme for S/S 2020!

We put together two beautiful boards and described two ways of taking this trend:
1) Bright and Bold. You might play with very clean, vector florals in bold colorways, or more detailed, traditional Hibiscus tropicals–but re-imagined in bold colorways with lots of contrast.

2) Vintage. This vintage take on the trend features maps, souvenir graphics and washed-out color palettes.
