Chelsea’s Challenge: Natural Textures

Our new Chelsea’s Challenge is now available! This month we are going to be focusing on textures from the natural world, including those inspired by water, cells, and the landscape of Mars. Some of the most beautiful textures make use of hand-done artistic techniques, but there are also so many amazing ways to create textures digitally! Within this post there are links to a number of different TDL tutorials to help you get started.

Check out the full post here which includes three inspiring trend boards and downloadable color swatches from WGSN’s A/W 23/24 palette.

Upcoming Event: Chelsea’s LIVE One Hour Challenge

Chelsea’s next LIVE one hour challenge will be April 5th at 1pm EST. Please be prepared with the following materials: Scissors, paper, drawing materials of your choice in multiple colors, and something round to help trace circles, like a bowl or small plate.

If you want to participate in the February One Hour Challenge the supplies you will need are paper and any drawing medium, although she suggested paint would be particularly fun for this challenge! Watch the recording here.

The course is for new or occasional Adobe Illustrator users, Photoshop users, and anyone who wants a refreshed perspective to better understand how Illustrator works from the ground up, and how it functions alongside the other apps in the Adobe Creative Cloud ecosystem. Recording Posted : Community Conversations with Esther Jongste

Esther Jongste hosted our second conversation last week and spoke about “personal growth on the creative journey.” Here is the recording. Through Community Conversations, we will come together for one hour through zoom to discuss a specific topic. A different member will host each live session.  The host will kick off the hour by speaking about a particular topic or a recent industry experience. We would then open up the floor to other members to share their experiences or ask questions.  The goal of these sessions is to highlight member experiences or lessons learned and create an opportunity for members to come together and chat about a specific topic. Topics could include social media, print on demand, freelancing, SEO, artistic endeavors, being a working mom, staying creative, etc. These will be very informal conversations, and keynote presentations are not necessary.  The host will also have the opportunity to be featured on our Pattern Observer blog and social media channels. If you are interested in sharing an experience please submit here.
