Textile Prints with Fizah Malik: Non Prints

We are thrilled to announce that we just released a new tutorial in the Lab by the fabulous Fizah Malik!

This is the third in a series of tutorials that she has created for the Lab that will be released over the next few months. In this tutorial Fizah shares her technique for creating non prints.

Watch the tutorial here.

November Illustrator Live with Laura Coyle: Pattern Mode

Laura will be hosting this month’s Illustrator Live on November 17th at 11 am Eastern. November’s session is about Pattern Editing Mode in Illustrator.

“I’ll walk us through the pattern process in Pattern Mode start to finish. If you are new to Pattern mode, this will be a good chance to see how it works and understand more about the workarounds we need to do to make it function for pattern designers.” You are welcome to post your questions here.

In last month’s presentation Laura gave us an overview of the new Illustrator Ipad App!

Pattern Planning and Goal Setting Group-Study

Mark your calendars, our Pattern Planning and Goal Setting Group-Study starts on Monday, Dec. 7th. This year we have expanded the course to include access to WGSN Fashion or Home.

In this Group-Study you’ll clarify what you hope to achieve in 2021 and create an action plan that is broken down into quarterly tasks to get you there. At the end of this course, you will feel focused and in control—ready for this upcoming year!

You’ll know exactly what steps to take and how you can use The Textile Design Lab to achieve the goals you’ve laid out before you.

New Tutorial: Developing Coloring Pages

Have you taken part in our Friday Coloring Hour? During these weekly video calls you can bring your own project to work on, or print out and use one of our coloring pages. Chelsea is the one who creates these coloring pages, and has a lot of fun making them! We had a request for a tutorial on how she creates these pages, and you will learn how in this new video!

Check it out here.

New Chelsea’s Challenge: Kid Craft

This month we are going to be focusing on designing for kids. You can choose to focus on kids’ apparel, home decor, paper goods or quilting fabric intended for children, or whatever products most excite you to create for young ones. This is a great opportunity to bring any kids in your life in on a design project, or just to bring out your inner kid and allow them to play! My goal for this challenge is for it to be fun fun FUN and for you to be able to create freely and without judgment. “Naive” designs are all the rage right now and if you are someone who spends a lot of time getting a design perfect I invite you to explore a more carefree aesthetic this month that is allowed to look a little unpolished and off-kilter! Get loose! Get messy!
