The Summer of Creativity is HERE!!!!!

Registration is now open for our third annual Summer of Creativity!

In each week of this eight week journey we’ll explore a new pattern style from around the world. You’ll uncover the history of the style, it’s relevance in today’s marketplace and explore techniques and tutorials to get you started.

We are going to be adding four new tutorials to our Textile Design Lab library along with new design briefs and a new weekly show & tell event.

You can read all the details here.

Textile Design Lab members can grab their spot in the course here.

Remember this event is FREE for all TDL members and it starts on July 16th.

July Design Challenge: Royal Wedding

Like most of the world, we were captivated by the recent royal wedding!

As WGSN has forecasted, “The glamour of the royal wedding inspires a host of commercial product updates, perfect for the summer occasion season. Items are inspired by time-honoured elegance that leverages tailored sophistication for a new consumer looking to smarten up”.

We have chosen three different directions for this trend: feminine florals, soft laces, and a more masculine spin.

Members can read the full design challenge here.

Guest Expert Speaker: Ronnie Walter

Last month we had the privilege to welcome Ronnie Walter to the Textile Design Lab as our guest expert. In addition to being a talented artist, Ronnie is also a business coach for creatives and helps artists find their way to success.

In this recent presentation, Ronnie shared three ways to narrow your focus so that you can actually bring greater (and hopefully faster) success.

In Part I of this live chat we walk you through our preparations for Surtex and in Part II we explore Inception, an overview of our budget and what we will do differently next time.

Part I is posted here.

Part II is posted here.
