New Guest Expert Training: How to Find New Clients (and Get More Work) by Sew Heidi
We are excited to welcome guest expert Sew Heidi back to the Lab for an informative 24 minute training video on finding new clients and getting more work, something most of us are always looking for.
In this video, Heidi covers:
- 4 places (you never thought of) to find new clients
- what to say if you meet someone at an industry event or mixer (so you can follow up later to ask for work)
- word for word email scripts you can customize to reach out to brands (even if they don’t know you)
Chelsea’s Challenge: Meander The theme for this month’s challenge is very sinuous, winding line work. By including flowers and motifs from nature, this theme can be interpreted in a very Art Nouveau-inspired way, or it could just be lines and more of an abstract pattern.
We’ve broken down this theme into three directions, which can be used alone or in combination to inspire your pattern collection: Art Nouveau, Knotted, and Winding Roads. Everyone who completes their collection by the February 5th deadline has the option to be included on our Chelsea’s Challenge Pinterest board and will be considered for a feature highlighting student work on the Pattern Observer blog such as this recent post from our Storytelling challenge. Weekly Art Critique Please join Michelle for our live art critique held THURSDAY at 1 PM Eastern. This is a fun event where Lab members come together to review artwork and ask questions about pattern design, marketing and sales. A registration link will be emailed out early on Thursday morning and will also be posted in our Weekly Art Critique forum. Textile Design Lab members can watch past critiques here.
