Art of Portfolio Curation Group Study
Deciding what artwork to show isn’t always easy, but having a system enables you to make more confident decisions.
In the Art of Portfolio Curation the Textile Design Lab team shares the exercises and techniques that they use to curate their artwork and see the “holes” in their portfolios.
The course is already posted to the Lab, but signing up for the group-study gives you access to bonus emails. It’s a fun way to stay motivated and work with a supportive group of TDL members!
This event is FREE for all Textile Design Lab members and kicks off on Monday, September 14th. Members can register here.
Textile Prints with Fizah Malik: Paisleys
We are so excited to announce that we just released a new tutorial in the Lab by the fabulous Fizah Malik!
This is the second in a series of tutorials that she has created for the Lab that will be released over the next few months. In this tutorial Fizah shares her technique for creating intricate paisley patterns.
New Chelsea’s Challenge: Brainsparker
We try to switch up Chelsea’s Challenge between having a more market-based or trend-based focus, and having more open-ended challenges that allow you to really stretch and explore. This is one of those months where everyone’s challenge will look very different, and we can’t wait to see all of the creativity that emerges!!
The starting point for this month’s challenge is an app called Brainsparker which TDL member Jenny Bova shared with Michelle recently and got us really inspired! Brainsparker offers a series of random prompt cards that can get you thinking about things in a different way than you typically might. Some of the prompts are more applicable to design than others, but you might be surprised at what comes up for you even if a prompt does not immediately seem to relate to design!
Adobe Spark with Laura Coyle
In Tuesday’s presentation Laura shared her method for using Adobe Spark.
“Spark is a web-based app plus a mobile app that is integrated with Creative Cloud and it allows you to make graphics easily. Perfect for promoting your business on social media and on your blog, website, emails, etc.
For all those times when you need graphics, but they don’t have to be absolutely, perfectly fine-tuned in Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign, Spark gives you great results, with access to all of your Adobe Fonts.
Spark comes in 2 other versions: Spark Video and Spark Page, for making video slide shows and web pages.
