Upcoming Event: Live Presentation by Rita Patel
As part of our new Wellness Workshop (which you can register for here) Rita Patel, a talented artist, designer and creative ally who also happens to be an international speaker, coach and generative consultant on wellness will be speaking to the Lab on Wednesday March 18th at 11am Eastern (we are currently in Daylight Saving Time!).
Her presentation, “is focused on framing how we feel about wellness, how wellness comes through our designs, and how we think about our role in this particular industry. First, we will learn how to apply a tool called the Lexicon Map to both enhance awareness of your personal wellness and deepen how you frame your design process. As designers, we strive to have our unique voice come through our surface patterns. This tool uses words as doorways to how we see and feel about a particular quality (such as serenity) that we want to evoke with our designs. By applying this process, you will be able to see the themes that emerge related to how you communicate your brand and story behind the designs. In the second part of this workshop we will go broader – again with our language to reframe our role in the healing and wellness experience of our customers.”

New Chelsea’s Challenge: Ornate Florals
This month’s Chelsea’s Challenge will help take us into the spring season with florals galore! Florals are perennially one of the most sought-after patterns, and while the popular styles always shift, evolve, and recycle over the years, I don’t think we will ever see them disappear. They are just too pretty!
This month we are going to focus on a particular category of florals, and really take the time to make something special and memorable that pattern buyers won’t be able to resist–ornate florals.
