New Design Challenge: Coppélia
This month’s Chelsea’s Challenge is a little different as it is for a potential Pattern Observer Studio client. We have been in talks with a scarf designer to create a custom print based upon the ballet Coppélia.
“Coppélia is “a comic ballet” about Dr. Coppélius, a doctor who has made a life-size dancing doll. It is so lifelike that Franz, a village youth, becomes infatuated with it and sets aside his heart’s true desire, Swanhilda. She shows him his folly by dressing as the doll, pretending to make it come to life and ultimately saving him from an untimely end at the hands of the inventor. “
The brief is super inspiring and we hope that you participate even if you decide to keep your pattern in your own portfolio.
Weekly Art Critique. Please join Michelle for this week’s live art critique held THURSDAY at 1 PM EST. This is a fun event where Lab members come together to review artwork and ask questions about pattern design, marketing and sales. A registration link will be emailed out early on Thursday morning and will also be posted in our Weekly Art Critique forum. Textile Design Lab members can watch past critiques here.
