Blurb Journal Design Contest

We were recently invited to create a series of notebooks that will be put up for sale in the new Blurb Bookstore. We would love to take this opportunity to highlight the work of our fantastic Textile Design Lab members.

Winners will receive $250 in exchange for a flat fee licensing deal for the journal category. This means that winners will retain the copyright to their work, but agree to allow us to use the artwork on journals for the next year.

Submissions are due on September 30th.

September Design Challenge: Aloha!

We hope you aren’t too burnt out on the travel themes from the Summer of Creativity, but we just loved this Hawaiian theme for S/S 2020!

We put together two beautiful boards and described two ways of taking this trend:
1) Bright and Bold. You might play with very clean, vector florals in bold colorways, or more detailed, traditional Hibiscus tropicals–but re-imagined in bold colorways with lots of contrast.

2) Vintage. This vintage take on the trend features maps, souvenir graphics and washed-out color palettes.

Upcoming Event: Guest expert Shannon McNab

Mark your calendars! We are delighted to welcome designer Shannon McNab into the Lab on September 25th at 1pm EDT.

We had the privilege of meeting Shannon at Surtex in May and can’t wait to hear her thoughts on “Trade Show Success: Strategies for after the show”.
This event is free for members and members can grab the link here.
